Author Kathy Ide discusses the similarities between collaborating with another writer and collaborating with an editor. Choose your editor wisely, because an editor can powerfully refine your work in ways that brings out its best. You want an editor who can go through all of the editing levels: overall content edits, line by line edits, and final proofreading edits. Some editors are fantastic at one of these levels, and you just want to be aware of your editor's strengths. You'll constantly go back and forth with your editor, it's not a one-sided relationship. Listen to more of Kathy Ide's perspectives in this video.
