<div class="asl-wikipage-summary">Eddie Gamarra, literary manager and producer from The Gotham Group, talks about comic book and graphic novel trends, including the staying power of graphic novels and the rise of independent comics. Over the decades, graphic novels have proven to be a great source for film and television. What&rsquo;s new in comic book and graphic novel trends is that more independent comic books are finding homes. People are looking beyond DC and Marvel, to places like Image Comics, for example, which is a different kind of business model. The creators themselves are the ones who are at the steering wheel, as opposed to the big corporations. There are different kinds of homes for different kinds of projects. One thing film and television executives love about graphic novels is they can see them. The visual component of a graphic novel is more immediate and visceral than a novel. That&rsquo;s something a lot of Hollywood executives appreciate.</div>
