Artist and author Steve Alpert discusses the process of taking his book and making it into a play. Before his play, he had experience in a number of roles, including producing. He actually swore off doing another play before he was hit by inspiration that he couldn’t ignore. Much to Alpert’s surprise, the play was successful. The process, though, was long and arduous. “I would characterize how to make a play…as hauling a submerged boat out of the water with a rope,” says Alpert. Listen to Alpert’s journey in the clip below!
