The film and television markets are always changing. Keeping up with these trends can help you find a way to get your foot in the door. Philippa Burgess of Creative Convergence, Inc., discusses how to break into the film and TV industry as a writer. As an industry insider, Burgess offers a great perspective on the changing landscape of television and film markets and how this affects content creators. She says that the market is full of both expansions and consolidations. There are more opportunities in the cable space. Cable stations are hungry for content and are great markets. The film market, however, is getting smaller. There is less room for content. The big studios and agents are not giving the attention to new, unknown directors or writers. When you're new to the film industry, your best strategy is not to try to get an agent right away, but to first find the resources that can help you, such as classes, mentors, competitions, and conferences to educate yourself and network. To break into the film and TV industry, find with others with similar goals and work toward achieving your goals together.

www.authorlearningcenter.com/.../ATEPhilippaBurgessChangesintheFilmandTVMarkets.mp4
