<div class="asl-wikipage-summary">Book covers still sell books and Charles Ardai, founder and editor of Hard Case Crime, is committed to design that is as compelling as the story. Ardai&#39;s favorite part of the job is commissioning artwork; he is a fan of the pulp fiction style covers and recently worked with Robert McGinnis, creator of many iconic images including James Bond illustrations, for retro-style projects. Ardai has an eye for the artists who can carry on this legacy, particulary younger artists who have been trained in this style. He tells authors: the book comes first, but an effective book cover is still necessary.</div>
