In his career, author and journalist Ray Locker has had the unique opportunity to edit series of nonfiction stories that were submitted for a Pulitzer Prize, where he was honored as a nominated finalist both times. In 2007 he edited a package of stories on the Pentagon's inability to procure military trucks, which ultimately attributed to the purchase of the vehicles and to lives being saved in combat. In 2009 he worked on a series of stories about retired generals and officers that were rehired by the Pentagon as advisers, but were plagued with major conflicts of interest. The Pulitzer Prize is a prestigious award for achievements in newspaper, magazine and online journalism, literature, and musical composition in the United States.
