&lt;p&gt;The Singapore Writers Festival is a 10-day event that includes panel discussions, workshops, lectures, and performances. What started in 1986 as a biennial festival is now a highly anticipated, global, yearly event. The mission of the festival is to not only present the world&amp;rsquo;s major literary talents to the people of Singapore, but also to promote new and emerging Singapore and Asian writing to a wider public. Marc Nair, poet and partner at The Creative Voice, has been participating in the festival for the last five years. He is seeing a growth in events, attendance, and participation, and is also seeing more local writers acquire international book deals and awards as a result of the festival. His partner at The Creative Voice, Carolyn Oei, is encouraged by the increase in attendance over the years and the breadth of languages that the event presents, but still sees room for improvement in the value that Singaporeans place on events such as the festival. Even though literacy is quite high in Singapore, its people aren&amp;#39;t making literature a high priority in their lives.&lt;/p&gt;
