Third Day lead guitarist Mark Lee has spent 25 years working very hard to build his platform and audience as a musician. More recently, as the author of the newly released memoir Hurt Road, Lee has been focusing on building a different kind of audience - his readers. While he did lean on his existing musician platform as a starting point for his book launch strategy, he also explored other tools and avenues to expand his reach and readership. Lee recommends that authors use social media sites such as Medium and digital content formats such as podcasts to communicate with potential readers. These types of tools allow for deeper engagement and interaction. Authors should take advantage of any existing platforms and strategize about how they can capitalize on their already captive audience.
