Award-winning journalist and broadcast personality Michelle Martin has been a Reading Movement Ambassador for Singapore's National Library Board for three years. She is passionate about reading and writing and hosts her own radio talk show, Read with Michelle Martin where she interviews authors worldwide. The role of Reading Ambassador requires Martin to be the voice and face for the country's National Reading Movement, which promotes the tagline, "Read more. Read widely. Read together." The program's goals are to encourage people to set aside some time to read regularly, go beyond their usual genres, read in mother tongue languages, and read with family and friends. Nonfiction is most popular with Singaporeans, and Martin hopes by talking about the joys and pleasure of reading, she can encourage more people to read fiction.
