&lt;p&gt;Author, Laura Labovich, discussed the similarities of selling yourself as an author and selling yourself in an interview. The most important thing both need to do is to know themselves. Soul searching probably isn&amp;rsquo;t something you want to do in front of the people who you&amp;rsquo;re trying to sell yourself to. When an author is talking to the person across from them, they need to know three things: they need to know what the piece is about, who it&amp;rsquo;s for, and how the person across from them can be enriched or made better by reading the work.
