Marketing your book is necessary if you expect commercial success. But doing it right means finding the right marketing mix to reach the widest audience. In this interview, Shelley Rogers Landes, former marketing manager at Author Solutions, discusses how to put together integrated book marketing campaigns to promote your book. She explains that literary marketing has four main components. The first component is publicity, which is when you push out your message. Through publicity, you try to get the attention of the media to distribute your message. The second component is online, which is social media. This includes Twitter, Facebook, and blogging. The third component is multimedia, such as video on YouTube. It's a great idea to put a video out to help promote your book. The fourth component is events. There are many opportunities to promote your book at Book Signings, local festivals, and other related fairs and events for your specific book. Think of publicity as the push, and marketing as the pull. Marketing includes contests, events, and discounts off of books. An integrated book marketing campaign includes a mix of all of these components.

www.authorlearningcenter.com/.../ASIALCATEShelleyRogersLandesBytheNumbersTheNecessityofBookMarketing030811.mp3
