However, the rules are different if you&amp;rsquo;re hiring a publicist. Flatt lays out a timeline that can get you started on the right foot. It&amp;rsquo;s unlikely that publicists take on books that have already come out. Usually they take people who have 4-6 months left before their launch date. In the clip below, Flatt explains why that time frame is important and what happens during that time.&lt;/p&gt;
