For many new authors, getting media attention and recognition can be a positive experience, but also uncomfortable. Cake Bake Shop founder and cookbook author Gwendolyn Rogers has built a large fan base since opening her first Cake Bake Shop in 2014. Her award-winning, globally recognized creations have even caught the attention of renowned chefs and celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey. In addition, Rogers has had the opportunity to be interviewed for magazines and radio shows, while also making appearances on morning talk shows. How does she handle all of this attention? By embracing it and enjoying every moment, Rogers says. Without the fans and attention, you can't continue doing what you love. She advises authors to appreciate any press, good or bad, because it all helps create awareness for your work. The notoriety may not happen overnight, but if you keep sharing your passion and believe in what you are doing, people will start to take notice.
