Being everywhere on social media isn't always better. The most important thing, says author and Author Marketing Experts CEO Penny Sansevieri, is having a presence on the social media platforms that matter for your book. While Facebook and Twitter are two of the most popular platforms, they may not be right for your book audience. Be your own best spy, she says, and figure out where your target audience is most active. Look at successful authors that write in your genre and find out where they are engaging with readers. Maybe that's on Instagram or Pinterest if you have a very visual audience. Trying to be present everywhere is counterproductive and will likely leave you feeling overwhelmed. Sansevieri says if you want to build an audience and loyal fan base, you have to start with a solid foundation on the RIGHT social media platforms, not just any platforms.
