Lavidge Senior Interactive Art Director Steve Tansley advises book illustrators to rely more on hand drawn images and visuals to draw a reader in, and not digital artwork. Hand drawn artwork has a natural quality that tends to be more attractive and interesting. Advances in computer technology have allowed artists and illustrators to use their traditional drawing skillsets in a digital format, which he finds very effective. Tansley encourages book illustrators to mix the media to optimize the effects of the artwork.
