<div class="asl-wikipage-summary">In the age of online commerce and e-books, keeping bookstores relevant is a topic of interest for book lovers, authors, and bookstore owners alike. Julie Wernersbach, publicist for the indie bookstore, BookPeople of Austin, Texas, discusses how a bookstore maintains value within its community. She says that bookstores can stay relevant by focusing on pairing the right book with the right reader. BookPeople also doesn&#39;t fight the trend toward online shopping and shares many of their book recommendations, reviews, and author interviews online. The indie bookstore is also heavily involved in community events, such as book fairs at schools and author launch parties. By focusing on giving the community and readers what they want, they are able to stay relevant in a changing marketplace.</div>
