No matter which publishing path a writer pursues, it's critical to have a solid book launch strategy in place well before the scheduled release date. Traditionally published, award-winning author Larry D. Sweazy has been fortunate to have experienced marketing and publicity teams support his thirteen fiction novels that have been published to date. In his experience, these teams begin planning as soon as a release date is scheduled, sometimes as early as a year in advance. But having this support team with a traditional publisher doesn't mean the author's job is done after the final manuscript is submitted. Sweazy works locally to start planning book signing events and he self-promotes through social media to start building awareness within his network. He advises that authors who pursue the self-publishing or DIY route will have to handle all marketing and PR elements on their own, or will need to hire help.
