Getting your fiction work published in The Saturday Evening Post is more challenging today than it was in the past, due to the limited number of issues currently being released each year. The Post previously published four to six short stories per weekly issue, but now publishes only one short story per bimonthly issue. And one of these six slots is dedicated to the winner of The Post's annual Great American Fiction Contest. The Post does digitally publish one short story per week on their website, which is a great opportunity for writers. As managing copyeditor Andy Hollandbeck explains, the submission process itself isn't difficult. Just simply submit your work through The Post's website or even through the mail. The key to making your work standout is to present a story that shows what it means to be human and that contains a strong plot line. Most of all, submit your best work and be sure to at least self-edit before submitting.
