Inspired by the saying in Vonnegut's novel Slaughterhouse-Five, the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library's yearly literary journal So It Goes released its fifth issue in 2017. The project was initially started when the foundation received some last minute grant money, says museum founder and CEO Julia Whitehead. What has grown to become more of an anthology, the publication accepts submissions from March 1 through June 1 via the foundation's website and is published each November. An assembled team chooses an overarching theme for each issue and reviews, discusses and selects which pieces will be included. This nationally praised publication includes all types of writing and genres, along with visual art pieces. As a tribute to Kurt Vonnegut, each issue includes a piece of his work and all proceeds support the foundation's programs.
