Hello all. My Name is Van Parker. I'm 86 years old and didn't start writing poems until I was 80. I've published 2 books of poetry and am working on a third. It''s good to share this space with other authors. I wish you all well.

Hello, I wrote my published book at 17, but I am 18 now and looking for advice on marketing and social presence. I am currently working on the sequel to my spiritual self-help book. It would be interesting to connect with any fellow authors and learn about the "author circles." Good luck with your works!
Maggie Bollis Bollis - May 03, 2016 at 10:22AM ET

Hi name is Maggie and I'm writing and publishing my first book....of course after I write it ...ha ha ha getting squared away to finally do so....atleast I've started. Looking for Author circle can be new like me and we can learn together all the ins and outs of self-publishing together and all the ins and outs of everything , many minds are much greater than one....I truly embrace gracefully teamwork and can prove to be very productive ....been mastering my self-discipline now for about five years and it sounds a lot easier than implementing such discipline in your life but I'm almost there . I'm pretty much self-taught in all I know, and I wouldn't be so quick to shrug me off without any diploma's under my belt....let's just say I learned in the field...ha ha ha and not from books totally....experience is the very best teacher as far as I'm concerned , not exactly the easiest route but the route I chose at a very young age because I simply couldn't conform to a classroom setting ....felt too boxed in. I'm also looking for a strong, confident, and knowing mentor that can take me under their wing .....I need to learn soo much more and open to all aspects of learning and critiquing...but stand solidly on my creativeness. My motto is if you aren't "Open" you're not up for change, breakthroughs or advancement in your life and I'm wide "Open" and dangerously so......Trust me when I say, "I'm a Writer" known this since I was 10-11 years other creative outlet is Art as well....if I heighten anyones interest please e-mail me :
Art Drentlau - April 21, 2016 at 01:04PM ET

Hi! Thank for your time! I am a first time author and I am using Balboa Press. I just got started a few days ago, I just started the Author Learning site today. My name is Art Drentlau and my book is called The First Law of Freedom sub title Responsibility it based on over 30 years of study and will not come from I guilt trip point of view about responsibility but from how our very thought is processed through Universal Law. My first mentor was Wayne Dyer back in 1986. Looking for possible Author’s Circle Partners. I am also an Advisor for the Responsibility Foundation a 501c3 and I will be speaking to groups on this subject you can get an overview of the project on our website Thank you again for your time, I look forward to your response. Thanks Art

Hi Mr. Drentlau, I read your bio on your project website as well as the story behind the idea of the "statue of responsibility." I think it is an interesting idea. Would you be interested in joining my author circle? I would be glad to join yours as well. I finished my published book at 17, but I am 18 now and I think your view on "responsibility" is a good view for the younger generation to experiment with. Cheers!
Maggie Bollis Bollis - May 03, 2016 at 09:31AM ET

Hello, Art.....uuuuum fascinating ....Wayne Dyer is one of my favorites too....still haven't listened to all his stuff yet ...but have a mental note to do so...hopely sooner than can be difficult with being busy with studying, writing, and my can prove to be a challenge juggling all of it.....I'm a first-time writer of a book too(self-publishing)...but I knew I was a writer in grade know how you just know these things ....I have always seen the world through a writer's eye and what I miss with my words my art picks up't know much about what it entails being part of an Author's circle....this is my first time going this way and totally up for learning anything anyone wants to teach me and of course anything I can possibly enlighten you with as well....please feel free to e-mail me , if you would be interested in me as a possible author's circle partner

Hi, Something wrong with the video contents, cannot play properly. Very distressing, when you listen a bit, it just stopped, and starts, and not flow continuous.

Hello, I published my book, A Mind Full Of Poems; In This Present Moment, last August with Authorhouse. I am still learning about the marketing and promotion of self-published books. The journey has been daunting and exciting and so very rewarding. Authorhouse created my website, and through their press release I got on live local radio, a piece in the local newspaper and community magazine. My book has given me a big boost to my self-esteem, and I am continuing to write poetry. Visit my website- to see what is possible as I never dreamt of having my own website before doing this project. Good luck to you all

Hi Nicole, I am looking for more "nuts & bolts" information on the formatting of a children's book. The manuscript and illustrations are complete so I am looking to learn/know how to put them together in the best possible format for the best possible readability, pricing and success... thank you, Sonya

Hello everyone I am on the journey to getting my first childrens book published, it is about a young girl ( well a little doll) starts work at a little shop called caseys bracelets (which is my jewellery business) we see her in her day to day and she is very close to her sister (little kiara) This will be the biggest achievement if my book does well, but just having done a book is amazing for me, More so that my 5 children are so proud and excited about it :) Only started off as a little book for my daughter :) to then be liked by friends to having it published its amazing :)
