Author and film critic Sam Staley (SR Staley) is an educator at heart. With a background in social science and public policy, he knows a lot about politics, economics, and history. Staley enjoys learning from the world and relationships around him and brings this passion to all of his fiction work including his award-winning historical fiction series, Pirate of Panther Bay. Aimed at young adults, his books contain learning content that can be used in the classroom as a method of teaching history. Staley's series provides historically accurate information surrounding many events during the 1780's including the American Revolution, colonial powers and dynamics, and different social classes. While Staley doesn't necessarily intend for his books to be used in the classroom, he is always thinking about how a story can influence readers to draw from his themes and characters to learn about themselves, making them an effective teaching tool.
