PENGUIN YA Author, Melissa Walker, discusses writing young adult series and shares important considerations. One of Walker’s favorite parts of writing a series is having the opportunity to stay with her characters. Leaving behind characters that you grew to know and care about is never fun, so the opportunity of one mores story is a gift. However, it is challenging to create growth in a character in the second and the third book because you did it once before. Answering the question, “how is this same character going to grow…again?” is difficult. Listen to the clip below to hear expert author Melissa Walker talk more about characters in a long running series.
