&lt;p&gt;In novels, readers are exposed to much more information than they typically would find when watching a TV show or movie. Writer and psychotherapist Dr. Stacey Simmons explains that novelists have more opportunity to talk in-depth about their characters, and explain a character&amp;rsquo;s background and inner thoughts. While these factors also inform a character and dialogue of a TV or movie script, the end result is quite different. A viewer will not have access to that information, so it must be communicated some other way by the screenwriter. Overall, the means are the same, with different ends.&lt;/p&gt;
