To be called "funny as hell' by well-known author and humor columnist Dave Barry is a huge compliment. Author Bob Morris has the unique privilege of being friends with Barry and was able to use an endorsement from him in his book and marketing copy for his debut novel, Bahamarama. The important thing to note about humor, says Morris, is that it can be subjective. While many readers can relate to the sense of humor that Morris has injected into his main character in his Zack Chasteen series, some don't see his books as humorous since they are suspense novels filled with death and dangerous situations. Morris believes that all good books need to contain some humor because that's how life works. He finds a balance in his own writing through serious editing, often cutting out parts where he is trying too hard to be funny or where the humor isn't serving the forward motion of the story. Morris advises other writers to try to keep the humor in the dialogue where it's more natural and to not overthink humor.
