Author Kaitlin Solimine hopes that everything she learned writing her award-winning, critically acclaimed debut historical fiction novel Empire of Glass makes the process of writing her second book more efficient. Her first book's structure, voice, and language were a bit experimental so she has learned what techniques to avoid and what works best for her. Solimine also has a better understanding of point of view and narrative structure which can apply to future work. She knows writing a second book won't be any easier, but she hopes to be a more confident, streamlined writer. Having one successful book under your belt can help open doors for future work as well, but there are no guarantees, Solimine says. You must focus on writing on the best book possible each time to continue seeing success.
