&lt;p&gt;To outline or not to outline - that is the question. The answer largely depends on the type of writer, but many writers find an outline or treatment (for screenplays) beneficial. For author and editor Sara Anne Fox, outlines are a comfort. They provide a great way to get the beginning, middle, and ending of a story mapped out. An outline becomes a blueprint for a writer and can be referred to as needed during the writing process. It can also change as needed and be created at any point in the process. There are no hard rules, says Fox, so it&amp;#39;s up to each writer to determine if outlining a story will be helpful.
