In fiction, plot is defined as the series of events (action) that make up a story. Most plots follow a structure known as Freytag’s triangle, which has five basic elements:

Exposition/Introduction

Inciting Incident

Rising Action

Climax

Denouement/Conclusion

In this webinar with award-winning author Jeanne Lyet Gassman, we look at each one of these five plot elements in more detail with specific examples of each. In addition, we explore basic outlining techniques that help you develop a plot and narrative for your novel or story that will keep the reader turning the pages.
