Putting yourself and your work out into the world can be very difficult for a writer. In order to network and make important connections you must learn to overcome any fear or self-doubt associated with this effort. While major creative hubs like Los Angeles or New York are great for networking, you can also make important connections in your local area says screenwriter, author, and MFA educator Michael Tabb. If trying to network specifically as a screenwriter, Tabb recommends producing some examples of your work. It's sometimes a trial and error process but it's the best way to learn and gain experience. Be ready for and open to any feedback, he says, and make sure you fully understand the suggestions so that you can continue to enhance your work while staying true to yourself.
