Almost any author interview includes some variation of the questions “When did you know you wanted to be a writer?” or “How did you become a writer?” Readers are intrigued by what inspires and informs an author's writing. Having a good answer in your back pocket can be helpful in formal interview settings and at author events. M. Todd Gallowglas, writer, critic, and educator, shares his early inspirations for becoming a writer. The first story he remembers writing was for a creative writing assignment in the third grade. Having a good answer in your back pocket can be helpful in formal interview settings, at author events, or when traveling back home for Thanksgiving. As an example, M. Todd Gallowglas, Writer, Critic, and Educator, shares why he became a writer. He says the first story he ever remembers writing was written for a creative writing assignment in the third grade. He got lost in the assignment and couldn’t stop writing as he built a world filled with goblins, ghosts, and vampires. He started his adventures to save the neighborhood it shocked him that he could create something so exciting out of his imagination.
