In order to write more than just a good story, award-winning author William Heath believes novelists should write about things that truly matter. Simply telling a "good story" may not be enough, especially if the story follows a common plot line. A skilled writer can keep the pages turning with a common plot line, but that doesn't necessarily make for a great novel in the end. Heath believes that true novelists take risks with words, characters and plots, and while this can often lead to failure, every now and then it produces a masterpiece.
