At first glance, it may appear that writing collaborations and collecting other people’s stories would be easier than writing your own book. But that is not necessarily the case, explains Susan Titus Osborn, an author, editor, and owner of The Christian Communicator. Her books Rest Stops for Single Moms, Rest Stops for Busy Moms, and Rest Stops for Teachers were compiled after soliciting stories from the relevant audience. Because Osborn had been to many conferences and other writer’s events, it wasn’t difficult for her to compile a list of interested subjects. She says the process of rewriting another person’s story to fit into her books was harder than writing her own material.
