Author, editor, and speaker Sharon Norris Elliott has written across many genres, including children’s, parenting, women’s issues, and a devotional. While the content may vary, her writing process for all the books remains mostly the same. Norris Elliott usually finds herself inspired while attending a church service or writer’s conference. As the book idea forms in her head, she begins thinking critically about the project: what will publishers expect, what is her theme and target audience, and other considerations. After thoroughly planning and creating an outline and synopsis for each chapter, only then will Norris Elliott begin writing. This process varies for children’s books, however. Norris Elliott is able to skip over the intense planning session and dive straight into writing.
