Before writing her books, she was a costume designer, stylist, and high school teacher. She says she moves on to a new endeavor whenever she feels that she&rsquo;s had enough. Jackson-Beverly knew it was time to dedicate herself to writing when the characters would not be quiet in her head &ndash; if she didn&rsquo;t write, they would just keep jabbering on, she explains. And once she started writing, the story flowed, even when there were hurdles. In order to continue to improve her craft, Jackson-Beverly reads in and out of her genre.
