It's easy as a writer to allow writer's block, self-doubt, or negative feedback to impact your progress. Writer and producer Jack Bernstein, known for the film Ace Ventura and for his work on popular TV shows such as Monk and NCIS: New Orleans, says that writers must accept that you are going to hit roadblocks and produce work that you end up throwing out. The key is to power through it and move on. To keep your momentum going, award-winning writer and producer, Randall Wallace, known for blockbuster films including Braveheart, We Were Soldiers and Secretariat, recommends encouraging yourself along the way by acknowledging your accomplishments, even the small ones. If you get stuck on a story, put in placeholder content, move on, and then come back to it later. Writers must get rid of the idea of being perfect and accept that it's a process. Bernstein compares writing to a muscle - you need training and consistency to continue making improvements. There is no magic shortcut when it comes to writing. Per Wallace, the journey is where you will find your voice as a writer.
