Journalist and author Ray Richmond does not believe journalism has evolved in a completely positive manner. He says that in the digital age, more shortcuts are being taken. Bloggers and other writers share their opinion but pass it off as fact. This is not what Richmond learned as a best practice when he attended journalism school, he recalls. There, he learned you have to want to help people in journalism – you tell the truth, no matter what. Facts should matter more than a writer’s style or biases. He reminds journalists that they are the person through which a story is told, and are not the story itself.
