As Singapore's National Library Board’s Reading Movement Ambassador and host of the evening radio show Read with Michelle Martin, award-winning journalist Michelle Martin has had the opportunity to speak and interact with many authors. Two common trends she is seeing is 1) Writers that wish to transition from nonfiction to fiction, and 2) Nonfiction writers looking for ways to standout in the competitive market. For writers wanting to transition from writing nonfiction to fiction, Martin recommends putting your work out there to get feedback and start building an audience from the foundation that you've already established with your nonfiction work. For nonfiction writers struggling to get exposure for their work, Martin stresses the importance of having a solid platform that is embedded in your book's narrative, and figuring out how to package that messaging in an interesting, relevant way.
