As a long-time musician, W. Timothy Wright is used to the difficult journey of rejection and self-doubt. The key to overcoming these types of obstacles as an artist is persistence, he says. Regardless of genre and book topic, you have to believe in what you are writing if you want to succeed. Confidence can come from writing what you know and doing the necessary research, as Wright did with both of his nonfiction books. Not the Destination is about his journey and experiences with The Wright Brothers Band. In his latest nonfiction book, The Valley Boys, Wright tells the inspiring story of two rival towns where he grew up that merged high schools and basketball teams. Wright advises aspiring authors to ask themselves, "What's the worst that can happen if I decide to follow my dream of writing and publishing a book?" You might come across people that don't support or like your book, but if you are passionate about it, you are more likely to come across people that do.
