Because Pilato knew Montgomery personally, the book is not as objective as Moore’s biography. When writing about Mary Tyler Moore, Pilato was excited to be able to document her life beyond <em>The Dick Van Dyke Show</em> and <em>The Mary Tyler Moore Show</em>.
