Kuhn encourages new poets to sign up for open mic nights and to accept all invitations to do readings. Engaging with an audience and seeing reactions to your work can go a long way in building up your confidence. To get your work recognized or published, Kuhn suggests submitting your work to literary journals or reputable contests. She also recommends getting involved in local workshops and classes, as this could lead to other opportunities.
