She took the &quot;safe&quot; route for her writing career and became a journalist instead, always wondering if she was creative enough to also write fiction. After the newspaper that she worked for was bought out she pursued various roles in the corporate world, doing business and publication writing for both for-profit and non-profit entities. All of these roles allowed her to interview a variety of people, showing her that everyone has their own voice and stories. This experience encouraged her to pursue fiction writing after she lost her marketing job.
