In a film, these things are conveyed visually. In a book, the writer must create the building blocks for the world being described, which allows readers to interpret the world in their own way, whereas a film shows them exactly what the world is supposed to look like. Benko was also surprised by the time commitment of writing her young adult novel <em>The Last of Will</em>, and the process of discovery as she was writing. While her screenwriting experience did help along the way, the process was still difficult at times.
