Alternative to the IMF: And Other Out of the Box Solutions

by Shahida Wizarat

About the Book

Different articles in the book reveal that Pakistan’s policies are made abroad, governments are made abroad and strategic routes and natural resources are given free or at nominal rates. Nothing seems to have changed since 1947 when Pakistan gained ‘independence’. And after giving our resources and routes for free, we go to the IMF for budgetary support. Excessive borrowing from the IMF started in the late 1980s causing decline in the growth of output, investment and employment, creating imbalances in income distribution, increasing poverty, with very adverse impact on the social and political fabric of the country. The book brings to the fore how state power is being used to demolish the state to take us to the colonial world order that existed prior to 1945. “Alternative to the IMF” offers out of the box solutions to agriculture, industry, balance of payments, public finance, natural resources, political economy, education, governance, privatization and liberalization problems afflicting the state of Pakistan. The strategies formulated for Pakistan are applicable to other countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, etc. that are facing similar problems due to borrowings from the IMF. I have also looked at the problems of Jammu and Kashmir and Afghanistan that have affected our economy, politics and society very severely and offered solutions.

  • Chatting with friends about online gaming got me curious to try something new. I was after a site with a fresh feel and good options. Found Winz Casino from Australia, and its sleek design is super cool. The games are fun, and the live dealer stuff feels so real. Frankly, it’s a great way to spend an evening gaming.

  • The dino game is a simple yet iconic browser game created by Google that appears in the Chrome browser when users are disconnected from the internet. Featuring a pixelated T-Rex running through a desert landscape, this endless runner has become a nostalgic symbol for internet users worldwide. Despite its minimal design and gameplay, the Dino Game has earned a cult following due to its accessibility, charming retro aesthetics, and the sheer fun it provides during moments of connectivity downtime.

The Chrome Dino Game was developed by Google’s UX team in 2014 as a fun Easter egg for users who experience internet outages. The idea was to give users something entertaining while waiting for their internet to return, essentially turning frustration into amusement. The concept was inspired by the prehistoric times — the "no-internet" era, metaphorically speaking — represented by a dinosaur.

It was first introduced in September 2014 in version 39 of Google Chrome. The developers nicknamed the game "Project Bolan", a nod to Marc Bolan, the frontman of the glam rock band T. Rex.
