Phillip Done on Writing His First Book and Securing an Agent - video

Derived from his years of teaching in California public schools and in Europe, author Phillip Done's first book, 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny, captures the stories and anecdotes from the classroom. He started journaling and collecting these stories when time allowed and after a couple of months he realized he had enough content to start a book. With the encouragement of a friend, Done completed his manuscript two years later and began querying agents. Despite receiving thirty rejections within two months, he didn't give up and contacted several more agents, finally receiving a request to review a chapter. This correspondence led to more chapters being requested and Done ultimately landed the agent who sold his manuscript to a large publishing house at auction. His advice to other writers is simple: "Don't give up."
