Welcome to your new Author Learning Center
You told us what you wanted, and we listened. We can’t wait for you to get into your new ALC experience, but we wanted to prepare you for what you’re going to see. We’ve kept everything that made the ALC the one-of-a-kind resource it has always been, and made improvements you will love.
Thousands of videos, articles and podcasts? Still there, with more being added each week. Live webinars with experts and industry leaders? Ready and waiting for you, with more coming every week. Tools to help you reach your author goals? Still there…
… but now they’re even better!
So let’s get started.
Confirm and Update Your Profile
The first thing you need to do is continue on to your profile page, and make sure the information there is still accurate. We’ve pulled your profile information from the old site, but completing your profile is more important than ever.
Completing your profile helps us send you the expert advice you want and enables you to make connections with members.
The new ALC uses your profile to decide what information to send you which will help you the most, including videos, articles, even other subscribers!
Your Author Space
Just like on the old ALC, your Author Space is your command center. Here you can see your book projects, navigate to each book project’s Author Circle, start new book projects, view your bookmarked videos, articles and podcasts in My Resources and see the content we’ve chosen for you based on your profile information in Just for You.
Every time you log in we will send you the latest insights on the topics which are of most interest to you.
You’ll also see a number of exciting new features on the left side of the screen. First, you’ll see a display of how much of your profile you have completed.
We'll always tell you how much of your Profile is complete.
Below that, you’ll see a list of all the Author Circles to which you belong. You used to have to go to your Community page to see this information, but we’ve brought it all together in your Author Space to make collaborating with other authors even easier.
You can always see which Author Circles you're a part of.
The Book Launch Tool is Even Better
You remember the Book Launch Tool, right?
This is what the Book Launch Tool used to look like.
We can’t wait for you to see the new one. We’ve kept the good—the ability to add custom tasks unique to your personal author journey, status updates, notes—and made it even better.
With the Book Launch tool, you can set a date for your book launch, pick the tasks you need to get there and track your progress.
There’s a video explaining all the new Book Launch Tool has to offer and the video will show you all you can do with the improvements we’ve made.
If you had tasks in the old Book Launch took, we migrated them to the new site. However, you should still take some time to go through each of your Book Launch Tools and check your tasks. We’ve also added some new tasks that you may want to start tracking. Most importantly, the tasks are simple to update, rearrange or remove if you wish.
Because of the updates to the Book Launch Tool, you may see also some slight differences from what you had:
- If your book project didn’t have a title, it will have a generic title now. You may of course change it, but the new ALC doesn’t allow untitled book projects.
- If you had more than one book project with the same name, they have been renamed to add numbers; you can of course rename them, but the new ALC doesn’t allow duplicate book titles from a single subscriber.
- If your book project didn’t have a book launch date set, we have set one for you. You can of course change it, but in order for the new and improved Book Launch Tool to function, you must set a target date.
The new Book Launch Tool is even more powerful than the old one, so take your time, watch the video, and get started!
Your Author Circles
Your Author Circles were undoubtedly one of the best features of the old Author Learning Center, and the new ALC has made them light-years ahead of what you had.
With the exclusive Author Circle tool, you can invite people you know or that we recommend to help you at every step of your author journey.
There’s a video about this waiting for you, but we can’t resist telling you the highlights. Other subscribers are a click away by using the search bar at the top of the screen. You can also still invite non-subscribers to collaborate if you wish.
We're making it much easier to find other subscribers.
And based on what you tell us in your profile, we’re going to show you other ALC subscribers who might be a good fit. You can view their profiles, send them a private message, and invite them to be members of your Author Circle, all from one page.
And by the way: in the new ALC, your Author Circles can have as many members as you want. We’ve brought all your Author Circles over already, so if you have that one book that just needs more attention, go ahead: use the search, look at your recommendations, and send the invitations!
Now you have a Feedback forum to speak directly with your Author Circle members, as a group. You have a Documents library to upload cover ideas, manuscripts in progress, or notes. Your Author Circle members can see and interact, right there, in one place.
Your Author Circle was nice. Now it’s phenomenal.
You May Have Questions. We Have Answers.
If you have questions we have a very detailed FAQ section and we’ll be updating them on a regular basis to help you get the most from the Author Learning Center. They’re right there at the bottom of every page.
There are also helpful videos in most sections as well as in the FAQs, but if you run into something you can’t figure out, email us at authorsupport@authorlearningcenter.com and we’ll do our best to get you the answer.
You asked for a better, more useful Author Learning Center, and we listened. Go ahead: click Continue, below, and get started updating your profile.
