  • Certain genres defy pithy description. I have written two novels of medical education/training in the 1960's--lots of 60's tumult along with the rigors of medical education. In view of the popularity of medical TV shows and now Mad Men it's quite frustrating trying to get an agent to give due consideration to my oeuvre as it is both medical fiction and historical fiction. Hence, I'm doing supported self-publishing.
  • Mr. Ogorek: I enjoyed your presentation at the Writer's Digest Conference in January in New York. It is very helpful. My hope is to get my book noticed and it becomes a best seller. Thank you for your insight. My Book: We Smoked Our Sister is about the South in the 1960's. It looks at the memories of a wonderful lady that lived during that time. It focuses on family, relationships, culture, history and communications. It is wonderfully intriguing and delightfully funny. It is a thought provoking collection of Short Stories that is written on a timeline. Thank you again for your insight.
  • Thanks Keith for this presentation, it was very helpful. I have a better idea now of where I am going and when to get there. I am so glad that I have joined iUniverse!
  • very helpful Don
  • Great article, Keith! I have completed a manuscript that is in its final edit and will be publishing in the near future. The book will be announced in late April 2012. I think you have comprehensively covered the bases of what is needed to accomplish this task of being an author. I began writing a story for my kids a number of years ago and the manuscript took on a life of its own. And now (its hard to beleve!) I will be holding a book in hand very shortly. You make a great point - many are the starters, few are the finishers. I now have another problem - I just got together ideas for the second book in the series - and I begin writing this evening. So much for the finish. I am starting all over again!
