Overcoming Learning Differences - podcast
Learning disabilities and handicaps do not prevent you from becoming an author. In fact, Pulitzer Prize nominated author Victor Villasenor, who once couldn’t read, argues that your disability can be a strength. He believes those with learning disabilities have a chance to see and feel things in a way others don’t, and can use their disabilities to their advantage. In this interview, Victor gives some examples of how he was able to overcome the challenges associated with his handicaps and some advice for how you can do it, too.

Thank you Victor for this different view on disabilities. To finally acknowledge that you can do something when you have been told for years that you can't, is really huge. You are an inspiration!

I have been suffering the debilitating effects of my long-held notion that writers are born or, writers write the moment they put pen to paper. As I hear more and more authors walking us through their writing processes I am beginning to retreat from my dysfunctional beliefs that deterred my progress. I now know that I should exert efforts hundred times more than that of Victor Villasenor's without so much a complain. Ranchitham, Malaysia.
