Three Common Writing and Editing Mistakes That Authors Make

As an Associate Publisher with the W Publishing Group, a commercial nonfiction imprint of Thomas Nelson, Stephanie Newton reviews many manuscripts. In the manuscript submission process, there are three common writing and editing mistakes she sees authors making:

1) Not following the submission guidelines including formatting and file types
2) Not identifying and writing for your target reader
3) Not demonstrating what is different about your work, and how it's bringing a new perspective to what is already in the market

Newton encourages authors to set the publisher up for success by addressing these things prior to submission. Send in your very best work — the best editing, the best writing, and the best foot forward.
