Timing is everything in Hollywood and sometimes the longer it takes for a book to get optioned for film, the better the end result. Former Director of Media Services for Author Solutions, Caroline Weiss, says it's really anybody's guess how long it can take for a book to be optioned for film, but in her experience, any length of time that is less than 7 or 8 years is considered moving fast in Hollywood.
