Platform, Social Media, Ad Words, Oh My! - video

The world doesn't accidently flock to your book and buy it--it takes strategic effort to find your audiences. But thanks to social media, authors can build a fanbase and create community using platforms like Facebook, Twittter and blogs. Co-authors Sam Barry and Kathi Kamen Goldmark believe community is critical to selling books. Old fashioned publicity is still effective, including interviews in print media and on radio and TV shows--especially if you are an expert on a topic. Authors might increase traffic and book sales online by paying for ads on Google and Facebook. Barry recommends a small test to master the process. Marketing is multifaceted and multi-channeled, but the Golden Rule still applies: authors are well served by helping others, whether by commenting on other blogs, sharing content, guest blogging and otherwise participating in the community.
