Ralphie's BFF's: Bird Friends Forever

by Marie Carhart

About the Book

Based on a true story, Ralphie finds new best friends in Homer and Peep, two adorable (gulp!) . . . birds! But how can that be? He's a dog, and everyone knows dogs aren't supposed to like birds! Why not? He asks his sister Charlotte. Because . . . well, they don't know why not. They're just not, that's all. If we are open to everyone and have no (as Ralphie learns and describes as) silly ideas of who we think we are supposed to like and not like, a whole new world opens up as we learn we have more in common than we ever realized and our new best friends may turn out to surprise and delight us!

  • Ralphie's BFFs: Bird Friends Forever" is a sweet, vibrant, and heartwarming story that celebrates unlikely friendships and the power of community. Centered around Ralphie, an endearing young bird with big curiosity and an even bigger heart, the story introduces us to a colorful cast of avian friends—each with their own quirks, challenges, and dreams. Ralphie’s journey reminded me a bit of the feeling one gets during an Escape Road experience—stepping out of your comfort zone, finding your flock, and discovering a path you didn’t expect. Just like Ralphie, sometimes the best routes in life aren’t mapped—they’re felt.
